A Sleep Apnea / Sleep Study is also known as Polysomnography, is a test that is used to evaluate your sleep pattern. When this test is suggested, the doctor may want to identify and diagnose any sleep health issue or disorder related to your sleep like sleep apnea, narcolepsy, limb movement disorder, abnormal nighttime behavior, insomnia etc. A sleep study is a non-interfering study where the technician is able to monitor patient's body and brain in overnight. This study examines and records heartbeats, brain waves, and breathing. It tracks movements, leg movements, snoring, and blood oxygen level, heart rate, brain waves pattern etc. This test is conducted in the sleep lab where the patient is required to spend night in-lab and the polysomnography equipment carry test by recording the required data. The ambiance of sleep room is made comfortable and dark for patient’s sleep. It involves a painless process where sensors and electrodes are placed on patient’s body parts to gather the required data. The test is carried out by a lab technician and further examined by the doctor.
